Costa Rica: There Is No Licence To Check
83 casinos in our catalogue name Costa Rica as their licensing authority, and 18 of them were answering this morning. There is no Costa Rican gambling licence for any of them to hold.
What Costa Rica actually issues
Costa Rica has no gaming commission, no gambling act, and no register of gambling operators. What is sold as a "Costa Rica gaming licence" is a data-processing permit, an ordinary business registration that lets a company host servers and process information in the country. It is issued by a general business authority, it does not examine the gambling operation, and it grants a player nothing.
The government tolerates operators who incorporate locally and serve players abroad. Tolerating is not licensing, and there is no body that supervises how these sites handle your money or your complaint.
Our own catalogue shows it from the inside
We record every licence number a casino displays. Across the 83 casinos naming Costa Rica, the number that publish a licence number is 1.
The ones we published a page for: 0xBET, BetOspin, BetScore, BetWest, BillyBets, Boomerang, Casho.Bet, Casombie, Cazeus, Crypto Games, Fat Pirate, FoxSlots, FunBetCasino, GameSpot, Gransino, Longfu88, Magius, Mama.bet, MonsterWin, MrPunter, Rich Royal, Rizzio, Sankra, SlotRush, StoneVegas, The Virtual, Tip-top.bet, VegasHero, Viu Viu, Wettson, Wild Vegas, WildRobin, Win Rolla, Wolf.io
That is not carelessness on their part. There is no numbering system to quote from, because there is no licence being numbered. Compare it with Anjouan or Curaçao, where a number exists, is printed, and can be checked against the regulator, which is exactly what we do on the other pages in this section.
What it means before you deposit
- There is no regulator to complain to. Not a slow one or a weak one. none. A dispute is between you and the company.
- No licence can be suspended, so the ordinary pressure that makes an operator settle a dispute does not exist here.
- A "Costa Rica licensed" badge is not a false statement about a permit that exists. It is a true statement about a permit that does not do what the badge implies.
Counts measured from our catalogue on 2026-08-21. The regulatory position is documented by LCB's jurisdiction record and by licensing agents who sell the permit and describe it as a data-processing licence rather than a gambling one.
